Tunnel Construction

Construction on the Oran W. Nicks Low Speed Wind Tunnel began in the 1940s as a blow down tunnel and before the first customer even entered, the decision was made to modify the tunnel into a closed circuit model. The photos below are of the construction of the tunnel as it went through the first few phases of development. Many thanks to Cushing Memorial Library and Archives for providing many of these historical photos.
